- When is
data recovery not possible?
Although Ondata Laboratories
has state of the art technology for data recovery, there are
circumstances where it may not be possible, such as:
- How long does hard disk
recovery take?
The time taken for data recovery
depends on the state of the drive, the kind of failure and
the complexity of recovering the lost data. There are some
recoveries which take a couple of days and others that need
more time. Typically, the recovery doesn't take more than
5 days, but exceptionally
there are cases which take longer, and we do advise clients
when this happens.
- How much does
data recovery cost?
The price of data recovery
differs depending on the device failure, so it is necessary
for your hard drive to undertake a diagnostic analysis to
determine the problem and the solution. This diagnosis is
WITHOUT OBLIGATION on your
part. It is FREE if you accept
the recovery quotation which is made within a couple of days
of receiving the drive. In this diagnosis, the technician
will indicate the failure, and the possibility of recovery
and a firm price. Should you decline the quotation a nominal
£50 charge will be made for the diagnostic analysis.
- Can
hard drives be repaired?
Our company is dedicated
to data recovery from different hard drives, but we do not
undertake repair only. Our work entails recovering data and
supplying it on a suitable replacement medium (CD-ROM or new
hard drive) so that the client may access the lost data once
more. The original hard drive is returned but we do not recommend
that it is used again.
- If
I don't accept the diagnosis, do I pay
anything?
The diagnosis is free if you accept our quotation.
When you contact us we give you a possible price range without
commitment. If you decide to send
your drive for a full diagnosis and then do not proceed,
there is a nominal charge for the return of your drive.
- Is
there an urgent service?
Yes, there is. We can provide
an urgent diagnostic service within 24
hours for an extra charge, where the device allows
it.
- If
the hard drive is under warranty, can you
recover the lost data without losing the
guarantee?
It depends on the case.
Normally, the hard drive guarantee is lost when it has been
opened. In most cases, it isn't necessary to open the drive
case to carry out the data recovery therefore the hard drive
maintains its warranty. However, in cases where it is necessary
to open the device in order to make the recovery we will advise
you in the diagnosis and you should then consult your computer
manufacturer.
- How do I send my hard drive?
In order to send us your
drive, you must first ask for a job number. This you can do
by phoning + 44 08 45 0680 999,
or by contacting us through our website, www.ondata-uk.com.
Once you receive this documentation you must complete it correctly
and fax it back to us, and then send us a copy with the drive.
- What format is used to
send the recovered data to me?
The recovered data will be sent you in CD
format below 4 Gb.
If it is over 4 Gb, it will be sent you on a new
IDE drive.
- What is a clean room?
A Clean
Room is a site designed specially to work in sterile
conditions, according to U.S.
Fed. STD. 209 and BS 5195 norms. This site offers your
hard drive the best security in the data recovery process.
It is necessary to isolate the device from dust and other
injurious particles, and to control temperature, pressure
and humidity at all times. |
