Sunnyvale, CA, September 20,
2005 — Fujitsu Computer Products of America,
Inc., one of the world's leading suppliers
of hard disk drives and computer peripherals,
today announced its next generation 2.5" MHV2120BH
and MHV2120AH mobile hard disk drives, both
featuring capacities of 120GB. With this high
capacity, Fujitsu mobile hard disk drives – already
known for their outstanding durability, low
power consumption, and near-silent operation – now
offer customers this same level of performance
for extremely data intensive applications.
The Fujitsu MHV2120BH is among the industry’s
first 120GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drives,
and was built by leveraging the company’s
leadership in Serial hard disk drive technology.
The hard disk drive provides ample data storage
for multimedia presentations, digital audio
and video, and graphics applications, making
it a natural choice for power users with intensive
data requirements. The Serial interface also
utilizes Native Command Queuing (NCQ), an important
feature that intelligently and simultaneously
coordinates up to 32 instructions to be queued
and reordered by the hard disk controller,
contributing to a significant improvement in
overall hard disk drive performance.
The MHV2120AH offers the same impressive capacity
and specifications with a traditional Parallel
ATA (PATA) interface.
"ATA hard disk drives have a powerful
impact on the storage market because their
low cost, high reliability and impressive performance
drive innovation in multiple markets such as
Mobile PCs, near-line enterprise and consumer
electronics," said Mike Chenery, vice
president of advanced product engineering,
Fujitsu Computer Products of America. "Fujitsu
research and development efforts are rooted
in the fact that hard disk drives have to keep
up as individual and organizational storage
requirements increase, and that focus has been
the genesis of our HDD products for over 35
years."
The MHV2120BH and MHV2120AH feature high capacity,
rugged construction, high endurance and low
power consumption, making them well suited
for a variety of storage applications, including
blade servers, network routers and POS applications.
The hard disk drives provide industry-leading
performance, critical for today’s data
intensive mobile and enterprise computing applications.
