Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary
of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT), today announced that
the Hitachi TagmaStore™ Universal Storage Platform
is Storage magazine and its online edition, SearchStorage.com's
"Product of the Year 2004," winning Gold
in the Disk and Disk Subsystems category. Judges selected
the "Products of the Year" from among storage
products introduced, upgraded, and shipped between
Oct. 24, 2003 and Oct. 25, 2004. The Universal Storage
Platform won on the basis of innovation, performance,
ease-of -integration into existing environments, ease-of-use
and manageability, functionality, and value.
The Universal Storage Platform was announced on September
7, 2004 and met with praise from the editorial team
at Storage magazine, who said that the new solution
"blazes a trail for where enterprise-class storage
systems are headed." Regarding the award win,
the Storage magazine editorial team reiterated its
positive take: "Our judges gave TagmaStore very
high marks for its innovation…in other words, it's
possible to access TagmaStore's internal storage as
well as externally hosted storage through a single
interface."

in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts,
analysts, and consultants.
